Ever since, I have lived with the question, "What is it that wants to be born through me?"

I believe that art speaks to us about awe and wonder.  Science and engineering make the unknown knowable, graspable and functional. Conversely, art reveals that the known is is not what it seems to be.

Art returns the known to the unknowable. It reminds us that we and everything we know are byproducts of a far grander infinite unknown. Art reminds us to be humble, to be amazed, to remember that there is always more happening than we think.

The artist’s job, it seems to me, is to create, or point to, the possibility of revelation by exposing the unknown in the known.

Vita & Exhibitions

In 1979, happenstance exposed me to a small exhibition of German Expressionist images. They spoke to me - moved me - as no poem, book, movie, image or human being ever had. My body rang like a bell. This was my initiation into the power and possibility of art.
